Fieldwork
2022
27h x 24w in., each
xerox photograph, painters tape, joint compound, graphite, drywall on drywall.

In Fieldwork, I repurposed drywall and photographed transitional spaces in New York City to review the gentleness of the hand through assemblage, tearing of the drywall, and revolving around transitional spaces. The Xerox photographs of construction sites and buildings are a visual tool of understanding the “in-between” spaces of development. I see this “in-between” phase as an exploration to repurpose spaces through installation. The beauty in these photographs is reflected through the structural qualities, line-making, and destructive handling of the drywall.
